Business Analysis (IIBA) launches worldwide
computer-based testing of the Certified Business
Analysis Professional (CBAP) exam as of
September 1, 2008. |
|
Toronto, July 17, 2008 – The
International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA™),
the independent, non-profit, professional
association for Business Analysts, is launching
computer-based testing (CBT) for the Certified
Business Analysis Professional™ (CBAP™) exam at
dedicated test centers around the world
beginning September 1, 2008. |
|
A Certified Business Analysis
Professional (CBAP) is a recognized expert in
identifying the business needs of an
organization in order to determine the best
solutions, a role that is increasingly
considered as vital to any successful project. |
|
The CBAP designation was launched
in November 2006 when 15 candidates took the
first CBAP™ exam. To date, there are more than
400 accredited CBAPs worldwide. With
computer-based testing, CBAP candidates will
benefit from more exam dates, times and
locations enabling them to take the exam when
and where they wish, and the proximity of
locations will help to reduce travel time and
costs. There are also more international exam
locations including Australia, New Zealand,
England, UAE, India and China, with more
locations to come. The current listing of CBT
locations can be found at |

“Since the
launch of the CBAP designation in 2006, there
has been strong demand worldwide with Business
Analysts, Business Systems Analysts,
consultants, trainers and others requesting that
IIBA make the CBAP exam available to them,” said
IIBA Vice-President of Certification Michael
Gladstone, who is himself a CBAP. “With
computer-based testing, we are able to
deliver. Candidates from across the globe will
be able to join existing CBAPs from Australia,
Brazil, Canada, Jamaica, the Netherlands, New
Zealand, the UK and the U.S. as recognized
Certified Business Analysis Professionals.” |
|
To take the exam, applicants must
meet the certification entrance criteria:
-
7,500 hours (five years)
of business analysis work experience within
the last ten years
-
Demonstrated experience
and knowledge in four of the six knowledge
areas of the Business Analysis Body of
Knowledge® (BABOK®)
-
21 hours of business
analysis professional development in the
last four years
-
Minimum high school
diploma or equivalent
-
Two professional
references
An organization can realize many
benefits by employing individuals with the CBAP
designation. CBAPs have a proven level of
knowledge and skill in the generally accepted
practices and techniques of business analysis as
outlined in the BABOK®. A
company can identify to clients and business
partners that they employ professional,
certified business analysts. When running a
project, organizations can also realize more
reliable, higher quality results that are
produced with increased efficiency and
consistency.
More and more
top companies are recognizing the CBAP
designation and the value and expertise that
these professionals bring to their
organizations. These include EDS, Insurity,
Royal Bank of Canada, The Chubb Group of
Insurance Companies, Sun Trust Banks, The
Hartford Financial Services Group, and Douglas
County Government’s Information Technology
Department
“With the
introduction of computer-based testing of the
CBAP exam, we are truly expanding our reach to
the international business analysis community,”
said Kathleen Barret, IIBA President. “Our
worldwide membership is very important to us,
and we are excited about this opportunity to
increase the number of CBAPs and deliver this
critical business expertise to companies around
the globe.”
